The Light Rail Transit Line 2 (LRT-2) will be offering free rides to commuters during morning and late afternoon rush hours on Monday, Dec. 30, in observance of the 128th death anniversary of Dr. Jose Rizal.
LRT-2 management announced it will accommodate passengers for free from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. and from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
The first trip will depart from Recto and Antipolo stations at 5 a.m., with the last trains leaving Recto at 9:30 p.m. and Antipolo at 9 p.m.
Rizal’s death on December 30, 1896, marks his martyrdom, a pivotal moment in Philippine history, as he was executed at Bagumbayan, now known as Rizal Park or Luneta.
Renowned for his works such as Noli Me Tangere and El Filibusterismo, Rizal remains a symbol of patriotism and the fight for freedom.
