Merry December for Rain or Shine

It’s been a merry December for Rain or Shine and head coach Yeng Guiao hopes it becomes merrier when the year turns.
The fiery mentor was elated that the Elasto Painters are ending 2024 on a four-game winning streak to sit at the fourth spot of the standings with a 4-1 slate.
“Magandang pakiramdam knowing yung five games namin sa December, even before the conference started sabi ko kailangan makapanalo tayo ng tatlo or apat sa games natin sa December, na-accomplish naman namin yung objective namin,” said Guiao.
Not only that ROS ended the year on a streak but it has also caught big fishes during that stretch with victories over Eastern, San Miguel and Magnolia.
“It’s really a nice feeling to go into a vacation into the christmas break with four straight wins, of course, there’s a new challenge facing us in January so yun naman yung kailangan naming isipin,” added Guiao.
Of course, what comes with the win streaks are the incentives and bonuses the team is getting from generous team owners Raymond Yu and Terry Que, making the Christmas season all the merrier for everybody.
“Meron naman parati yan (Christmas bonus) pero bahala na si batman dun sa ano namin (bonus). I am sure wala naman problema they are always appreciated especially when you are winning,” said Guiao.
“Ang maganda pa rito, we were able to utilize the whole lineup today. For everybody to feel that they made a contribution not just sa win today but to the overall effort, at least, up to now nakalimang laro na kami.”
“I think that's also part of the Christmas spirit that we are sharing the responsibility that they made the contribution” he added.
As great as the celebrations, however, Guiao reminded his wards to keep themselves in shape and not lose the sharpness for their January return
“We don't play until Jan. 8 so my worry really is baka mawala yung sharpness o baka mag iba yung routine namin kasi maraming distractions ngayon,” said Guiao.
“We are asking the players na kahit na wala kami sa routine namin na iyon, we will have a few days break, and then they will celebrate christmas with their families then we go back to practice, I just hope yung sharpness di namin mawala pagbalik namin ulit,” he added.
