ZAMBOANGA CITY – The Zamboanga City Police Office has created a Special Investigation Task Group to probe the ambush of the Commission on Elections-Sulu provincial official where his brother was killed.

The task group, composed of officers from the Police Regional Office-9, the Zamboanga City Police Office, and national support units, was created based on the order of Police Regional Office-9 commander Police Brig. Gen. Bowenn Joey Masauding.
Acting Zamboanga City police Director Police Col. Kimberly Molitas was appointed to head the task group while newly appointed PRO-9 Deputy Regional Director for Operations Police Col. Santiago Pascual will oversee the progress of the investigation.
The Zamboanga City Police Office is pursuing suspects involved in the shooting.
“We encourage citizens to remain vigilant and report any information that could support in solving the case. Your help is crucial,” said Molitas.
Comelec-Sulu Provincial Officer Vidzfar Amil and his brother, 57-year-old Nasser were onboard Vidzfar's Sports Utility Vehicle when they were shot by motorcycle-riding gunmen.
Nasser succumbed to a bullet wound in the head during treatment in a hospital here.
