Flag carrier Philippine Airlines (PAL) is set to launch new domestic flights from Cebu as part of its commitment of expanding inter-island connectivity and offer more routes to its customers.
From March 1, PAL said it would start flying directly from Cebu to Catarman City in Northern Samar and ramp up flights to the island of Siargao.
The Cebu-Catarman flights will operate with the 86-seater De Havilland Dash 8 Series 400 Next Generation aircraft, offering near-jet speeds and quieter comfort than comparable aircraft.
Travelers from Catarman City may use PAL’s Cebu hub to connect conveniently to Caticlan (Boracay), Clark, Busuanga (Coron), Bacolod, Cagayan de Oro, Iloilo, Puerto Princesa and Siargao.
To promote the new Cebu-Catarman service, PAL said it started offering an introductory base fare of P698. The fare is available until Jan. 31 and for travel from March 1.
"Samar residents and travelers will now have better access to Cebu, and the new route will also give Cebuanos more options to visit Northern Samar,” PAL Express President Rabbi Ang said in a statement on Wednesday, Jan. 8.
PAL also serves Catarman with four weekly flights to and from Manila.
Meanwhile, the frequency of flights between Cebu and Siargao is set to expand to 18 times weekly with the addition of midmorning flights on Wednesdays and Sundays.
Apart from Cebu, the flag carrier also serves Siargao with two daily flights to and from Manila, and three weekly flights from Clark.
“The new Cebu hub services to Catarman and Siargao are part of our continuing commitment to enhance inter-island connectivity, boosting tourism and stimulating business," Ang said.
