Crime volume in Central Luzon went down by over 66 percent last month while Metro Manila recorded 17 percent crime reduction last week amid implementation of new strategies against criminal elements.
In Central Luzon, Police Regional Office 3 Brig. Gen. Redrico Maranan said they recorded 213 focus crimes for the entire month of November, compared to 321 in October.
Focus crimes are murder, homicide, physical injury, rape, theft, robbery, carnapping, and motorcycle theft.
He attributed the decrease in crime volume to the peace and order operational framework with the formula of Enhanced Police Presence (EPP) + Quick Response Time (QRT) + Counter Actions against drug groups, criminal gangs and private armed groups ( CADCP) = Safe Region 3 (SR3).
The strategy includes intensified police presence, 24/7 checkpoints and police outposts in all parts of the region have really helped to prevent thieves and other criminals from being given the opportunity to carry out their illegal activities.
“This was a result of the cooperation of the people and the police, as well as the local government units. We will continue to intensify our crime prevention measures to further improve the peace and order situation in the region,” said Maranan.
In Metro Manila, the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) recorded a 17.52 percent reduction from Nov. 24 to 30 compared to the previous week, or from Nov. 17 to 23.
NCRPO director Brig. Gen. Anthony A. Aberin said the crime reduction was a result of the aggressive campaign against wanted criminals and strategic crime prevention measures in Metro Manila.
For the campaign against wanted persons, Aberin said they were able to arrest 337 persons, including 137 Most Wanted Persons (MWPs) and 200 Other Wanted Persons (OWPs).
For other anti-crime operations, the NCRPO arrested 287 suspected drug pushers and 449 others for illegal gambling.
A total of 25 firearms were confiscated from 25 arrested individuals in the campaign against loose guns.
“Then NCRPO will continue to increase police presence in strategic areas, introduce responsive crime reduction approaches, and conduct intelligence-driven operations calculated to redound to a safer and more secure Metro Manila,” said Aberin.
