The Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) has accepted "sajada", or prayer mats, from the representatives of the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos (NCMF) during their visit at the Quezon City Jail Male Dormitory (QCJMD).
QCJMD warden Supt. Warren M. Geronimo said the special visitation event of the NCMF is part of efforts to promote respect for the rights and religious practices of all persons deprived of liberty (PDLs), particularly those of the Muslim community, in the facility.
The NCMF-National Capital Region Office Director Dimapuno A. Datu-Ramos, Jr., also conducted a jail visitation and legal aid program at the Quezon City Jail-Female Dormitory (QCJFD).
In an interaction with OCJFD warden Chief Insp. Lourvina Abrazado, the NCMF donated ‘sajada (prayer mat)’ to 38 female Muslim PDLs in the facility for their religious practices.
Aside from the prayer mat donations, the NCMF Legal Affairs Division also conducted a forum to address the legal questions of the PDLs concerning their cases.
