Man arrested for hacking Rottweiler in Pangasinan


TAYUG, Pangasinan - A 54-year-old man was arrested for allegedly hacking  a dog owned by his neighbor in Barangay Evangelista here on Dec. 16.

Police identified the suspect as Roberto Padilla de Guzman.

The dog owner,  Marlon Licuanan Inosencio, 40,  heard his dog, a Rottweiler, barking and crying.

Inosencio saw the suspect standing outside his house holding a bolo.

He checked his dog and found out that the canine was injured.

Inosencio, a dog breeder, checked surveillance foootages and  found out that the suspect hacked his dog in the body several times.

Police arrested the suspect in a follow-up investigation  and brought to the police station for station proper disposition.

The suspect faces a case for violating Republic Act 8485 or the Animal Welfare Act of 1998.
