The Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) will facilitate the construction of housing projects for faculty and employees of the University of the Philippines (UP).
DHSUD Secretary Jose Rizalino Acuzar said the housing project is through four buildings that will be constructed inside UP-owned properties in Diliman as stipulated in the memorandum of understanding it signed with UP President Angelo Jimenez.
"This MOU solidifies our partnership with UP management toward our common goal of providing decent yet affordable shelters in sustainable communities, this time for the benefit of UP constituents,” said Acuzar.
Under the MOU, the UP Management expressed its intent to participate in the flagship housing program of the Marcos Jr. administration.
On the part of the DHSUD, it vowed to facilitate the construction of a mass housing project in the land identified by UP for the housing of qualified faculty and staff of UP.
Acuzar said the DHSUD will also provide end user interest subsidies for qualified beneficiaries at UP.
The DHSUD has been aggressively partnering with various government agencies and private companies to maximize the construction of affordable but decent housing to as many Filipinos.
Currently, it said there are up to 1.2 million housing projects already in the pipeline.
The agency is eyeing up to 3.2 million housing units by 2028.
