GENERAL SANTOS CITY – Smuggled cigarettes valued at P3 million were recovered in a coastal barangay in Barangay Kamanga, Maasim, Sarangani on Dec. 8.
Police Col. Deanry Francisco, Sarangani police director, said 3,000 reams of smuggled cigarettes with the brand names Red Royal, Berlin, and New Orleans were found.
Francisco said smugglers left the contraband behind after sensing the arrival of the police acting on intelligence information.
He said that these imported cigarettes from Indonesia were about to be distributed to this city and neighboring provinces of South Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, and Davao del Sur.
Lawmen are conducting follow-up investigation to determine the identities of the suspects.
