Tricycle driver charred in head-on collision in Isabela

CAUAYAN CITY, Isabela – A tricycle driver was killed and his body was charred in a head-on collision in Barangay San Pablo here on Saturday.

Police identified the victim as Manolito Taylan, 46.

Investigation said Taylan’s tricycle encountered a pile of soil on a newly constructed road and attempted to evade the obstruction.

However, the tricycle encroached on the opposite lane, resulting in a collision with an oncoming dump truck driven by Dexter John Ibay, 26, of Barangay Disimuray, Cauayan City.

The tricycle overturned and spilled gasoline that ignited and caused a fire.

Taylan was trapped inside and sustained serious injuries.

He was taken to the Cauayan District Hospital where he was declared dead on arrival, officer-on-case Police Master Sgt. Rodrigo E. Siban said.
