Octogenarian drowns, body stuck in fish trap in Quezon


GUMACA, Quezon – An 84-year-old woman drowned and her body was caught in a fish trap or “baklad” in the shoreline in Barangay Villa Padua here on Monday morning, Dec. 2.

The Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office identified the victim as Nelda W. Caballero, a resident of Barangay Uno in Quezon, Quezon. 

A resident of Barangay Villa Padua found Caballero’s body in the fish trap 150 meters away from the shoreline.

Caballero, who was reported missing on Dec. 1, was positively identified by her daughter-in-law.

Authorities said the victim drowned and taken away by the wave here.

No signs of foul play were observed on the victim’s body.
