ILOILO CITY – Boracay Island in Malay town, Aklan province has been named as the World’s Leading Luxury Island Destination.
The tourist destination’s latest accolade was bestowed during the 2024 World Travel Awards Grand Final Gala Ceremony in Madeira, Portugal on Nov. 24.
The Department of Tourism cited the award.
“This award is a strong testament to Boracay Island’s continued reputation as one of the top luxury destinations globally,” said DOT-6 Regional Director Crisanta Marlene Rodriguez in a statement.
“Let us keep celebrating Boracay Island’s excellence and preserve its legacy in the tourism industry,” added the DOT.
The Malay Municipal Tourism Office also cited the award.
“Boracay is solidifying its position as a premier destination for luxury travelers worldwide,” said the Malay Municipal Tourism Office.
“We extend heartfelt gratitude to the thousands of supporters who voted for Boracay Island and continue to recognize its unparalleled value in the global tourism industry,” added the Malay MTO.
Boracay was also named Asia’s Leading Luxury Destination at the World Travel Awards (WTA) last September.
