Ben Tulfo denies family forming dynasty

TACLOBAN CITY – Despite the potential of having three Tulfo brothers in the Senate, broadcast journalist Ben Tulfo, who consistently tops senatorial surveys alongside his brother ACT-CIS party-list Rep. Erwin for the 2025 elections, reiterates that they are not forming a political dynasty.

"We cannot be called a dynasty. Our origin is from the media. We are journalists. We are used to analyzing, observing, listening, and taking action for the people who come to us," Ben said during his visit here for the 11th anniversary of super typhoon “Yolanda” (Haiyan) on Nov. 9.

Ben said his commitment to public service was his driving force behind his decision to file his Certificate of Candidacy (COC) as an independent senatorial aspirant.

He emphasized the need to scrutinize the weaknesses of existing laws that he cited as one of the reasons why people turn to him for assistance in his 22 years as a broadcast journalist.

“Ben is different. Raffy is good in public service in terms of domestic, those who have problems with their spouses, Erwin has been with DSWD helping and ACT-CIS. We are different but only one blood runs in our veins, which is helping,” he said, citing that criticism come from those who envy them.

He stated that the voting public should make decisions, and there is nothing wrong if he and his brothers collaborate to strengthen and revise laws.

Ben, who was invited to join the senatorial slate of political parties, asserted that surveys indicated a stronger campaign strategy for him as an independent candidate.
