San Sebastian College dragged University of Perpetual Help into oblivion and out of the Final Four race with an empathic 83-72 victory Saturday, Nov. 9, in NCAA Season 100 at the Filoil EcoOil Arena.
The Stags found themselves with guns clicking and peppered the Altas with 12 deafening triples that helped the former salvage some measure of pride and improve to 5-11.
Although SSC-R is already out of it, it is still expected to go all out in hoping to play spoiler against big guns Mapua and San Beda in its last two assignments.
By doing so, the Stags also broke the hearts of the Altas, whose 11 defeats against six triumphs eliminated them from the semis hunt.
Tristen Felebrico led the way with 18 points seven rebounds and three assists while Regz Gubat scattered 15 points, including four booming three-pointers.
It also produced heroes in Raymart Escobido and Paeng Area, who contributed 14 and 12 points, respectively.
Christian Pagaran and Mark Gojo Cruz were the sources of inside strength for the Las Pinas-based dribblers but they just didn’t have the answer to the Stags’ deadly assassins from the outside.
In the second game, Emilio Aguinaldo College showed incredible resolve as it repulsed Arellano University, 69-59, to move a few steps closer from making its very first Final Four appearance.
