Grade 7 student drowns in Negros Occidental

BACOLOD CITY – A Grade 7 student drowned in a river in Barangay Aranda, Hinigaran, Negros Occidental on Thursday, Nov. 7.

Police said that the 12-year-old victim and his classmates went swimming in the river during their lunch break at around 12:30 p.m.

The victim reportedly swam to a deep part of the river and drowned.

His classmates tried to rescue him but failed as the victim drifted away due to the river current.

They sought help from residents and the victim was retrieved under water.
