The DOH granted the request of Mayor Albee Benitez for additional resources to supplement the rising healthcare costs under the BacCHP that requires around P16 million a month.

“If we rely on the city fund alone, it is not enough,” said Mae Cuaycong, BacCHP coordinator.

The allocation will go directly to the six accredited hospitals here and ease financial strain.

Under the BacCHP ordinance, a holder is entitled to receive P15,000 for medical assistance or coverage for hospital bills for their dependents.

The BacCHP aims to maximize government resources for the implementation of an adequate and responsive healthcare system.

The city has disbursed at least P80 million to 9,000 beneficiaries from January to October this year.
