The Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) is now coordinating with the Philippine Coast Guard and other agencies for the removal of two large ships that ran aground along the coast of Currimao town in Ilocos Norte due to the strong winds and waves unleashed by typhoon “Marce”.
Based on the reports from the ground, the strong waves pushed MV Aries and Panphil 8 towards the coast of Barangay Victoria in Currimao town at the height of the onslaught of “Marce” on Friday, Nov. 8.
“The PPA is now coordinating with the shipping line and the Philippine Coast Guard for the initial inspection,” the agency said in a statement.

Panphil 8 is just waiting for its conversion from foreign to Philippine vessel while the MV Aries is being used for dredging operations along Padsan River in Laoag City.
“Marce” left a trail of destruction in some parts of northern Luzon as it unleashed strong winds and heavy rains that affected thousands of residents.
In Cagayan province for instance, the strong winds blew off rooftops and damaged several homes and government facilities while the heavy rains caused flooding and submerged a number of areas.
