The Land Transportation Office (LTO) will be opening some of its offices in areas affected by the weather disturbances that recently hit the country in order to accommodate as many clients for motor vehicle registration and driver’s license application and renewal.
LTO chief, Assistant Secretary Vigor D. Mendoza II said the work suspensions due to tropical storm “Kristine” and typhoon ‘Leon” have resulted in some of the motorists being unable to do their transactions with the agency.
“Due to the effects of two typhoons that had hit the country and several work suspensions which affected most of our transacting public, all Regional Directors/Assistant Regional Directors are mandated to assess the necessity of rendering services and opening offices on Saturdays,” said Mendoza in a memorandum he issued.
The memorandum called for opening of as many District Offices, Extension Offices and Driver’s License Renewal Offices (DLROs) in areas affected by the weather disturbances through widespread flooding.
This early, several Regional Directors have already signified intention to open some of their offices on Saturday.
In Calabarzon for instance, at least 14 District Offices are now preparing for the Saturday operation—most of them were areas affected by the flooding brought by “Kristine”.
Among them are five district offices in Cavite, four District Offices in Rizal, three district offices in Laguna, the Batangas City and Lipa City District Offices in Batangas. All DLROs in Calabarzon are now also preparing for the Saturday duty.
On the other hand, the LTO Regional Office Cagayan has already scheduled Saturday operations for all its district office, satellite office and DLROS from November 9 to December 21 to accommodate more clients affected by the weather disturbances.
Cagayan Valley Region was affected by both ‘Kristine” and “Leon”.
Earlier, Assec Mendoza announced that all the penalties for the late motor vehicle registration and driver’s license renewal are waived in consideration of those affected by “Kristine”.
Assec Mendoza said he already instructed the IT team of the LTO to ensure that all online systems must be working
