Mayor Honey strengthens CLAYGO policy during Christmas season

Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna-Pangan will strengthen the implementation of the city's Clean As You Go or CLAYGO policy during the Christmas shopping season to boost the residents' waste management awareness.

"Our benchmark is the Japanese way of cleanliness habits and courtesy to others. We will strive for that. Eventually, the cleanliness and waste etiquette habits will become well-ingrained," she said.

She noted that the CLAYGO policy will be implemented in large supermarkets in Binondo, Quiapo, and Sampaloc.

A week before Simbang Gabi begins, the city government will remind all barangays to follow CLAYGO and proper waste etiquette. 

The CLAYGO policy will also be implemented during the Traslacion in January next year.

"We would request street vendors to refrain from using sticks for street food to avoid injuries to Black Nazarene devotees walking barefoot," Pangan said.
