Livestock buyer shot dead in Ilocos Sur

MAGSINGAL, Ilocos Sur – A man engaged in the buy and sell of livestock was gunned down while walking on his way home in Barangay Panay Sur here on Tuesday evening, Nov. 5.

Police Capt. Melvin Trinidad, Magsingal chief of police, identified the victim as Alfredo T. Ugale, 45, of Barangay Panay Norte.

The suspect was identified by the victim before he died as Corting Cortez of Barangay Panay Sur.

Investigation said that the victim was on his way home from a drinking session at about 8 p.m. when the suspect appeared and shot him with a caliber .45 pistol.

Ugale sustained multiple bullet wounds and was taken to a hospital where he was declared dead.

The suspect was arrested in a pursuit operation and denied shooting the victim.

Trinidad said that the motive of the shooting was old grudge and illegal drugs as the victim and the suspect were drug surrenderers.
