Department of Education (DepEd) Secretary Sonny Angara on Wednesday, Nov. 6, underscored the agency’s commitment to maintaining transparency and accountability throughout all procurement and bidding activities.
In accordance with DepEd Memorandum No. 61, series of 2024, all agency bidding activities must adhere to Republic Act No. 9184, also known as the Government Procurement Reform Act, which upholds the principles of transparency, competitiveness, and accountability.
Angara further noted that all suppliers and contractors will have an equal opportunity to participate, ensuring that the Department obtains the best services and products for schools.
Additionally, the DepEd issued a strong reminder to the public, as well as to bidders, contractors, suppliers, consultants, and employees directly involved in procurement activities, that any misconduct, behavior, or practice that undermines the integrity of competitive procurement will not be tolerated by DepEd.
DepEd also reminded that any officials or employees found guilty of involvement in illegal activities related to the procurement process will face sanctions and disciplinary action, which may include dismissal from service.
Angara encouraged the public to support this initiative and report any information regarding potential illegal or corrupt activities in the procurement process to [email protected].
