Valenzuela City kicks off its 401st Founding Anniversary with civic reception and procession


The Valenzuela City government kicked off its 401st Founding Anniversary celebration with a Civic Reception followed by a solemn procession in honor of patron saints at Pistang Bayan 2024, held at San Diego de Alcala Parish on Sunday, November 3.

The Pistang Bayan 2024, with the theme “401 Taong Pagpapala ng Diyos sa Parokya ng San Diego de Alcala, Sambayanang Naglalakbay na Magkakakaagapay”, officially started with the Civic Reception and First Novena which was presided by the Apostolic Nuncio to the Philippines, Most Reverend Charles John Brown, D.D.

The holy mass was followed by a solemn procession, in honor of the patron saints of the Sub-Parish Pastoral Council (SPPC) from different barangays.

The event marked the beginning of the week-long celebration of Valenzuela City’s 401st Founding Anniversary which runs from November 3 to November 12, 2024.

The San Diego de Alcala Parish has prepared several festivities in line including the Misa Novenario presided over by invited bishops and archbishops; Rosary and Novena in honor of San Diego de Alcala; Pasikatan 2024: Battle of the Bands; free surgical, medical, and dental mission; Pangkulturang Pagtatanghal “Noches de Patrimonio: A Dinner for a Cause”; “Siglos de Gracia” Exhibit;  Pagalingan 2024: Marching Band Competition; and the unveiling of the historical marker of San Diego de Alcala.
