The Special Action and Intelligence Committee for Transportation of the Department of Transportation (DOTr-SAICT) is now coordinating with the Land Transportation Office (LTO) for the identification of the defiant driver and the registered owner of sports utility vehicle (SUV) bearing “7” special plate that illegally used the EDSA Busway on Sunday night, Nov. 3.

The incident happened at 6:58 p.m. on Sunday at the northbound lane of the Guadalupe Station of the EDSA Busway and what prompted Jonathan Gesmundo, executive assistant to the DOTr Secretary, to condemn the incident was the behavior of the driver and one of its occupants.

Based on the report of the SAICT personnel, the driver of the SUV attempted to run over a female enforcer while he was being politely asked to stop the vehicle before managing to reverse the vehicle towards an exit point of the busway and speeding off.

“Adding to the disrespectful behavior, a passenger in the back seat of the SUV raised a middle finger at the officers as they fled,” the SAICT report read.

The incident was captured on a video taken by one of the SAICT personnel. It was later uploaded on the SAICT Facebook account and is now viral.

"We condemn the actions of the driver and the passenger in this incident. Our officers were simply doing their jobs to maintain order and ensure the smooth flow of traffic,” said Gesmundo.

“We will work closely with the authorities to identify and apprehend the individuals responsible and hold them accountable for their actions,” he added.

Gesmundo said they will forward the video to the LTO for the identification of the driver and the registered owner.

The DOTr-SAICT is also expecting the LTO to issue a Show Cause Order to both the driver and the registered owner.
