Police identified the fatalities as Jerom Erosido, 34, and wife Elpidia, from Barangay Camindangan, Sipalay City.

Police Capt. Jose Michael Muñez, deputy chief of the Sipalay City Police Station, said that Jerom was driving a motorcycle with Elpidia and daughter Ana Rose, 18, as back riders and attempted to overtake a tricycle while approaching a curve part of the road.

An approaching van driven by a 41-year-old resident of Silay City overlapped on the motorcycle’s lane, resulting in a head-on collision.

The victims were taken to a hospital where the couple was declared dead. Ana Rose was referred to a hospital in this city.

The van driver and his passengers who were their way to a family excursion were unharmed.

Muñez said the van driver was placed under police custody and will be released after the 18-hour reglementary detention.

He said that the victims’ family and the van driver are set to meet on Tuesday, Nov. 5, for a possible settlement.
