At least two million visitors in Manila North and South Cemeteries were recorded during the observance of Undas 2024.

In a report presented by the city government, they recorded 1,618,530 visitors at Manila North Cemetery and Manila South Cemetery 548,627 from October 30 to November 3.

Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna-Pangan thanked the visitors for complying with the Clean As You Go or CLAYGO policy implemented to reduce the waste inside the premises of the cemeteries.

She said the improved garbage management and the relocation of the vendor helped in the flow of people in and out of the cemeteries.

The cemetery managers said they noticed that people carried less food and belongings this year.

Only 104 truckloads of garbage were collected in cemeteries which is lower than the 107 truckloads collected last year.

Next year, the city government plans to notify about CLAYGO a week before Undas, to promote waste etiquette.

They will also advise visitors to eat before going or after their visit, so that there is no mess to clean up in the cemeteries.
