Thousands visit Angono cemeteries to honor departed loved ones

Thousands of cemetery-goers, both residents and non-residents, flocked to the cemeteries in Angono, Rizal, on November 2, All Souls Day.

Mayor Jeri Mae Calderon said the three cemeteries in the Art Capital of the Country-Angono Public Cemetery, Saint Clement Catholic Cemetery, and Sympathy Memorial Park, were filled with visitors coming from all over the town and outside the municipality to keep the age-old tradition of remembering the departed loved ones on the second day of November.

The Angono Police said the crowd grew in numbers as night time came with no major incidents recorded by authorities.

At the tomb of National Artist for Music Lucio San Pedro, whose remains are entombed at the Saint Clement Cemetery, several Boy Scouts served as honor guards standing beside the gravesite of one of the two national artists who hailed from Angono.

Vice Mayor Calderon said the pathwalk at the public cemetery, which is connected to a newly built road, is undergoing continuous improvement.

Several peacekeepers, including barangay tanods and volunteers, assisted the police in maintaining order at the three cemeteries.
