Police said the truck lost its brakes on a downward sharp curve, prompting its driver, Jojo Casuela, to crash the vehicle on the roadside to prevent it from falling into a ravine.

The truck turned upside down and injured a woman and five students who were among its 10 passengers.

They were taken to a hospital and declared safe.

Lawmen are looking at overloading and brake malfunction as the cause of the accident.
