Septuagenarian murdered in Escalante City by daughter's live-in partner


BACOLOD CITY - A 76-year-old man  was allegedly stabbed to death by his daughter’s live-in partner inside their house in Barangay Alimango, Escalante City, Negros Occidental on Monday night, Nov. 25.

Police identified the fatality as Ricardo Prietos.

Police Capt. Lindsey Caraballe, deputy chief of the Escalante City Police Station, said the victim’s 33-year-old daughter caught his 36-year-old live-in partner holding a bladed weapon in her father's bedroom when she arrived home.

She asked  what happened and the suspect who was reportedly drunk  stabbed her in the right hand but she was able to leave their house.

Her father, however, succumbed to multiple stab wounds.

Caraballe said the suspect was  arrested in Barangay Pinapugasan, Escalante City and police recovered the murder weapon.

Police are conducting follow-up investigation and awaiting the decision of the victims’ family if they will file a case against the suspect.
