The Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) was awarded the 2024 “Freedom of Information (FOI) Award” by the Presidential Communications Office (PCO) for its excellence in the dissemination of valuable information of prime public importance.
With the PCO’s recognition, the BJMP underscored its commitment to fostering an environment of openness and accessibility, aligning seamlessly with the core values of the FOI program by being the top requested and performing agency in the eFOI portal with at least 90 percent closed transactions.
The BJMP also noted that its performance serves as a testament to the bureau's dedication to upholding the highest standards of transparency and accountability in its operations.
Organized by the PCO, the annual FOI Awards seeks to recognize the remarkable contributions of government offices in the executive branch, including government-owned and controlled corporations (GOCCs) and state universities and colleges (SUCs) to the development and progress of the FOI program.
BJMP chief Director Ruel Rivera and spokesperson and designated FOI officer, Supt. Jayrex Bustinera received the award on behalf of the bureau during the 2024 FOI Awards ceremony.
