TAGUDIN, Ilocos Sur – Police destroyed marijuana valued at P5.3 million in a two-day eradication operation in the boundary of this province and Benguet.
The Drug Enforcement Unit uprooted 10,350 fully grown marijuana plants and found 800 seedlings worth a total of P2.1 million on Nov. 22 in Mount Boa between Barangay Licungan in Sugpon, Ilocos Sur, and Barangay Tacadang in Kibungan, Benguet.
No cultivators were apprehended and a kagawad or councilor of Barangay Licungan witnessed the inventory and marking of evidence on-site.
The next day, police discovered in Mount Agay in Barangay Licungan 15,000 fully grown marijuana plants and 5,000 seedlings with an estimated value of P3.2 million.
No cultivators were also arrested and a kagawad witnessed the documentation and inventory of evidence.
The Police Regional Office-1 assured the people that they remain dedicated to the campaign against marijuana cultivation and focused on preventing this illegal plant from reaching the community.
