Angono holds 'Higantes and Arts Festival 2024'


Angono, Rizal’s ‘higantes’ fill the streets in the Art Capital of the Country for the Higantes and Arts Festival 2024, on Sunday, Nov. 24.

Garbed in native costumes, the town giants, which are  tall sized version of a mascot  lined-up in the streets for the grand parade which is annually observed in the province.

Over 200 higantes joined the parade and entertained residents and some local and foreign tourists.

The event is the residents' thanksgiving in honor of their patron saint, Saint Clement the Pope and the town as a whole.

Senator Marie Imelda Josefa Remedios Romualdez “Imee” Marcos,  joined the festivities. 

Bernard Laca, Jr. of the Angono Public Information Office said Senator Marcos was amazed upon seeing her version of the ‘higante’, among the giants that were on parade.

Vice Mayor Gerardo ‘Gerry’ Calderon said this year’s festival is a celebration of the many gigantic dreams and aspirations of the local government that have come true because of everyone’s participation. 

A group of residents, who are the so-called Marcos Loyalists, gave Sen. Marcos a birthday cake as the crowd sang a birthday song to the lady senator. 

Sen. Marcos said  she used to visit the town and encouraged the residents to participate in the Young Creative Talent- which has a 1 million peso prize money, as part of her legislation, the Creative Industries Law.
