Maintaining a clean home is a priority for pet owners, especially for those, like myself, who live with two active cats. With them running around, shedding fur, and creating the occasional mess, maintaining a spotless space feels like a full-time job.

While my Dyson V8 Slim Fluffy has served me well, the launch of Dyson’s new Wash G1,  their first dedicated wet floor cleaner, promised a more innovative approach to home maintenance. The launch event, led by Dyson Senior Design Engineer Wynton Lee, was held at their One Bonifacio High Street store in Taguig City last October.

How did it fare? After incorporating it into my cleaning routine, I can confidently say it exceeded my expectations.

The Wash G1 combines vacuuming and mopping into one seamless process, making it a lifesaver for pet owners like me. My cats’ feeding area, for instance, is always a mix of dry kibble crumbs and water spills. Before, I had to vacuum first and then go back with a mop to tackle wet messes—a time-consuming and tedious process. With the new vacuum, I can handle both in one go. Its ability to pick up both wet and dry debris in a few swipes amazed me.

Even more impressive is how easy it is to maneuver. Thanks to its double rollers that spin in opposite directions, the vacuum glides effortlessly across my floors, even around tight corners or under furniture. This is a huge relief for someone with limited space and lots of nooks that collect fur.

Occasionally, I’ll come home to dried-on dirt near the litter box or spills I didn’t catch earlier. In the past, removing these required scrubbing by hand or repeated mopping. I put the Wash G1 to the test on a dried-up water stain mixed with litter dust, and in just a few seconds, it was gone. This is thanks to its three hydration levels—I used the highest setting for tough stains, and it worked like a charm.

The vacuum also boasts a long battery life, offering up to 35 minutes of floor-washing power. For someone like me who needs to clean multiple areas in one go, this ensures I can tackle my entire apartment without interruption.

Once the cleaning is done, there’s the inevitable task of washing the vacuum parts. If you’ve ever dealt with pet fur, you know how messy it can get. Thankfully, the cleaner has a self-cleaning cycle that flushes the system in just 140 seconds. One simply docks it, presses a button, and it’s ready for next time. The automatic separation of debris from dirty water also makes disposal completely hands-free and hygienic—a big win for fur parents dealing with pet hair and food residue.

For anyone juggling the demands of pets and a busy lifestyle, this vacuum is a worthwhile investment. From picking up stubborn messes to simplifying cleanup, the Wash G1 proves that even the toughest cleaning challenges can be tackled with ease.

For fur parents like me, where cleanliness is non-negotiable, the Wash G1 is more than just a vacuum—it’s peace of mind.
