Eastern Visayas showcased its stunning destinations and rich cultural heritage during the 3rd North Luzon Travel Expo, held from Nov. 21 to 23 at Waves Point in San Juan, La Union.
Organized by the Department of Tourism (DOT), the event promoted interregional travel and aimed to forge partnerships among tourism stakeholders, supporting the nation’s efforts to rejuvenate the tourism industry.
DOT Eastern Visayas Regional Director Karina Rosa Tiopes emphasized the importance of the region’s participation, seeing it as a key opportunity to attract travelers from Northern Luzon.
“For Eastern Visayas tourism, we are targeting the North Luzon market. Interested travelers now have tour rates and direct contact information for operators offering these packages,” Tiopes said.
The Eastern Visayas booth drew large crowds, featuring tour packages that highlighted iconic attractions such as the historical landmarks of Tacloban City, the pristine beauty of Kalanggaman Island and Cuatro Islas in Leyte, the mystical Sohoton Cave in Samar, and the serene Sambawan Island in Biliran.
Adventure-filled cities like Baybay and Ormoc also captured attention with their unique mix of history, culture, and natural wonders.
Local tour operators provided detailed itineraries and contact details, simplifying the planning process for potential travelers.
Tiopes noted that these direct interactions allowed visitors to gain a clearer understanding of the region’s offerings, sparking interest in its one-of-a-kind travel experiences.
The expo also fostered collaboration among tourism stakeholders, strengthening the connections between the northern and southern regions of the country.
Tiopes expressed her optimism about the initiative, saying, “Eastern Visayas has so much to offer, and we want travelers from all over the country to experience our pristine beaches, rich history, and distinct local flavors.”
Through its active participation in events like the North Luzon Travel Expo, Eastern Visayas continues to build its reputation as a must-visit destination.
With its breathtaking landscapes, vibrant culture, and seamless travel experiences, the region stands out as an ideal choice for travelers eager to explore the best of the Philippines.
