The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) has signed an agreement with the United States agency that regulates air transportation to improve air navigation and safety.
CAAP director general Manuel Antonio Tamayo said the Air Navigation and Implementation Cooperation Work Plan he signed with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) would pave the way to the sharing of non-sensitive data and resources for air navigation safety.
He said the agreement aligns with international efforts to modernize aviation systems and practices.
“This Work Plan reflects our shared commitment to a safer, more efficient, and forward-thinking aviation industry,” said Tamayo during the agreement signing on the sidelines of the 35th APANPIRG Meeting (Asia/Pacific Air Navigation Planning and Implementation Regional Group) on Nov. 25 in Bangkok, Thailand
He said the agreement also focuses on key areas, including the modernization of communication, navigation, and surveillance (CNS) systems and automation infrastructure, air traffic flow management and contingency planning, and the potential privatization of airports and air navigation and traffic services.
