Maynilad's P1.6-billion wastewater management to serve Muntinlupa communities soon

Maynilad Water Services, Inc. (Maynilad) is preparing to test its new P1.6-billion water reclamation facility (WRF) and sewer conveyance system in Barangay Cupang, Muntinlupa City, with the goal of full operation by year-end.

In a statement, Maynilad said the Cupang Water Reclamation Facility has a design capacity to treat up to 46 million liters of wastewater per day using Conventional Activated Sludge technology.

Once operational, Maynilad said it will serve around 33,000 customers in Barangays Sucat, Buli, Cupang, and Bayanan.

“Wastewater management is essential to safeguarding both public health and the environment, which is why we continue to invest in projects that ensure the proper treatment and disposal of wastewater," Maynilad President and Chief Executive Officer Ramoncito S. Fernandez said.

"The construction of this new WRF in Cupang, Muntinlupa, is part of our long-term strategy to expand sewerage services across the entire West Zone,” he added.

In addition to the Cupang facility, Maynilad is also finishing the Tunasan Water Reclamation Facility in Muntinlupa.

Together, these facilities will increase Maynilad's sewerage coverage in the city.

Maynilad is the largest private water concessionaire in the Philippines in terms of customer base. It is a concessionaire of the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System (MWSS) for the West Zone of the Greater Manila Area.
