BACOLOD CITY – A 57-year-old church caretaker attending to her ill husband in a hospital died after she was hit by an allegedly speeding Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) in Sitio Mohon, Barangay Binicuil, Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental on Wednesday, Nov. 20.
Police Capt. Sammy Gasataya, deputy chief of the Kabankalan City Police Station, identified the fatality as Nenita of Barangay Tampalon, Kabankalan City.

Gasataya said the victim was crossing the street after buying food across the hospital when she was hit.
The victim was thrown off and died due to the impact, he added.
The 37-year-old driver from Cauayan town, Negros Occidental was on its way to this city for work when the accident happened.
Gasataya said that both parties had an initial settlement and the driver will be released from police custody after the lapse of the 18-hour reglementary detention.
