The Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) donated a total of P17,430,072 to the Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB) for the construction of the drug abuse treatment and rehabilitation centers (DTRCs) nationwide.

In a statement, the DDB welcomed the donation, saying the amount will be of big help in providing the necessary health interventions to overcome substance abuse disorders and rebuilding the lives of drug users.

PCSO allocates 40 percent of its charity fund to support vital health programs, including initiatives in substance abuse prevention and rehabilitation under the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 (Republic Act 9165).

The DDB stated that its partnership with the PCSO reflects the government’s steadfast commitment to strengthening public health infrastructure and expanding access to health, social, and development services for those in need.

To further amplify the country’s drug prevention advocacy among the youth, the DDB also noted that it hooked up with educators, youth leaders, social workers, sports and health personalities as well as the local Anti-Drug Councils.

Through the “Facilitator’s Training on Personal and Interpersonal Skills,’’ the DDB stated that it has equipped the facilitators “with essential soft skills such as communication, empathy, critical thinking, and adaptability, to connect with young learners in a meaningful way.’’
