Centro Escolar University (CEU) celebrated its annual Loyalty Day recognizing the dedicated service of its employees who have been part of the CEU community for as long as 45 years. The annual Loyalty Day is particularly meaningful as it coincides with the birth anniversary of Doña Concepcion Aguila, this is the 130th, a key figure in the University’s history, known for her unwavering dedication and contribution to CEU.
The celebration commenced with a Thanksgiving Mass, setting the tone for the grand awarding ceremony which followed at 9:00 a.m. Employees were recognized for their long-standing contributions, with awardees honored for 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, and 45 years of service. These individuals have played pivotal roles in maintaining the University’s legacy of excellence.
The ceremony paid special tribute to CEU alumni who have remained loyal to the institution, choosing CEU for their children’s higher education, symbolizing their enduring trust in the University.
Adding to the significance of the day, Louie Ignacio, a renowned Filipino film director and a distinguished CEU alumnus who took Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication, Class of 1986, was the event’s guest speaker. He shared his humble beginnings and fond memories of CEU, expressing how his love for the University has never waned. Director Ignacio highlighted how grateful he is for the education he received at CEU and the lasting impact his professors had on his career, stating that he remains a proud graduate of the University.
The most emotional moment of the event was when Lydia De Vera, from CEU Makati Library Department, was honored for her remarkable 45 years of service. Fighting back tears, she delivered a heartfelt speech reflecting on her journey and expressing gratitude to the University that has been her professional home for nearly half a century.
Other notable honorees include employees who marked 40 years of service: Dr. Amy Cabrera, Dr. Lilia Co, Nenita Lim, Dr. Antonio Mirador, Jr., and Dr. Eufrecina Jean Ramirez, whose work has left an indelible mark on their respective departments.
Employees with 35 years of service were also honored, including Dr. Regina Librada Amil, Dr. Rowel Antonio, Irene Bernales, and others, whose dedication has significantly contributed to the university’s achievements over the years.
As the awards continued, recognition was given to employees celebrating milestones of 30, 25, 20, 15, 10, and 5 years of service, with each awardee receiving gratitude for their steadfast dedication and invaluable contributions to CEU’s growth.
This year’s Loyalty Day was organized by Dr. Rhoda Aguilar, University Registrar, and Dr. Paz Lucido, President of the CEU Alumni Foundation, Inc., whose efforts ensured the event was a success. Their leadership exemplifies the spirit of loyalty and service that CEU has instilled in its community over the years.
As CEU continues to celebrate its employees and alumni, Loyalty Day 2024 serves as a testament to the enduring relationships that the University fosters—built on mutual respect, trust, and a shared commitment to education and excellence. Together, they continue to lead and inspire the future.
