Philippines bags top honors in dive tourism, sustainability at TripZilla Excellence Awards

The Philippines has been named Best Dive Destination, while the Tourism Promotions Board (TPB) earned its third consecutive Sustainability Leader of the Year award at the TripZilla Excellence Awards 2024, the Department of Tourism (DOT) said.

DOT Secretary Christina Garcia-Frasco underscored the agency’s dedication to promoting the Philippines as a premier global dive destination and reinforcing sustainability in the tourism sector.

The Best Dive Destination award highlights the country’s world-class underwater experiences, bolstered by its diverse marine life and pristine waters across 7,641 islands.

To strengthen its dive tourism offerings, the DOT has expanded to 120 destinations, launched the Philippine International Dive Expo (PHIDEX), and introduced the Philippine Tourism Dive Dialogue.

Safety measures have also been prioritized with the deployment of hyperbaric chambers in major dive sites such as Boracay, Puerto Galera, Dumaguete, and Daanbantayan.

Meanwhile, the TPB’s Sustainability Leader of the Year award celebrates its unwavering efforts to promote eco-friendly and socially responsible tourism practices nationwide.

Now in its 10th year, the TripZilla Excellence Awards recognize Southeast Asia’s top travel brands for their significant contributions to the industry.

TripZilla, a leading travel platform, connects with over 20 million travelers monthly, solidifying its status as a trusted source for travel endorsements and accolades.
