ILOILO CITY – The Department of Social Welfare and Development awarded 66 local government units in Western Visayas region for their strong programs in promoting child welfare.
DSWD-6 Regional Director Arwin Razo led the conferment of the Seal of Child-Friendly Local Governance as part of this year’s celebration of National Children’s Month.

This year’s theme “Break the Prevalence, End the Violence: Protecting Children, Creating a Safe Philippines” aligned with the goal of SCFLG to ensure a safe and nurturing environment for children.
Twenty-eight LGUs from Iloilo were awarded – Alimodian, Anilao, Banate, Batad, Bingawan, Cabatuan, Passi City, Concepcion, Dingle, Dumangas, Guimbal, Igbaras, Tigbauan, Lambunao, Leganes;
Leon, Maasin, Miag-ao, Mina, New Lucena, Oton, Pavia, Pototan, San Joaquin, San Rafael, Santa Barbara, Zarraga, and Iloilo City.
The province of Negros Occidental has 11 – Bago City, Cadiz City, Talisay City, Himamaylan City, Hinoba-an, La Castellana, La Carlota, Manapla, Murcia, Victorias City, and Silay City.
Aklan province has eight: Balete, Batan, Buruanga, Ibajay, Kalibo, Lezo, Nabas, and New Washington.
The province of Capiz also has eight – Cuartero, Dao, Dumarao, Ivisan, Jamindan, Maayon, Sapi-an, and Tapaz.
Antique province has six – Barbaza, Laua-an, Patnongon, San Jose, Sebaste, and Sibalom.
Guimaras province has four LGUs: Buenavista, Nueva Valencia, San Lorenzo, and Sibunag.
