Alma Gustilo, officer-in-charge of the Department of Social Services and Development (DSSD), said that each qualified beneficiary will receive P10,000.

Beneficiaries include 50 each from the autism sector and the Bacolod Special Education (SPED) students.

The release of the assistance kicked off at the Bacolod City Government Center on Monday, Nov. 11.

Gustilo thanked the city government for this year’s allocation for the PWDs.

She said that under the SLP, only 1,000 qualified beneficiaries can be accommodated annually, and for this year, they are focusing on PWDs.

Gustilo said that the assistance will enable the beneficiaries to start a livelihood that would help their families.

If the funded livelihood prove successful and sustainable, the program could recommend further support through additional capital, she added.

Mayor Albee Benitez urged the DSSD to ensure proper guidance on the beneficiaries to sustain the livelihood program.

“Let’s be conscious about the result of the SLP, as the assistance may or may not help them in terms of livelihood,” he said.

Gustilo said that a team from the DSSD monitors the progress of the beneficiaries – how the aid helped them in improving their way of life.
