The Parañaque City government postponed the scheduled lighting of the city's giant Christmas tree on Monday, November 18, due to Super Typhoon Pepito.
Mayor Eric Olivarez said the postponement of the program was made to ensure the safety of everyone due to the forecasted heavy rainfall and other severe impacts of the typhoon.
Olivarez said the activity will be moved to a later date and will announce some further updates soon.
He also urged residents to keep themselves updated on the weather conditions by visiting the Facebook page of the Public Information Office (PIO).
The mayor also asked for the full cooperation of residents once the team of the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO), City DRRMO, Philippine National Police (PNP), and Bureau of Fire and Protection (BFP) implements forced evacuation.
