The annual Higantes Festival grand parade, scheduled on Sunday, Nov. 17, has been postponed to a later date as a precautionary measures undertaken by the municipal government in anticipation of the effects of Typhoon Pepito.
In an announcement made Saturday night, the municipal government of Angono said the grand parade and all the festival-related activities have been cancelled.
Mayor Jeri Mae Calderon said the activities in line with the Higantes Festival 2024 parade have been set aside as the safety of the public remains a priority.
Calderon said the local authorities, including the local emergency responders, have been on the watch and ready to respond should any untoward incidents happen.
The local government officials, including the disaster risk reduction and management personnel, along with the police, held an emergency meeting Saturday afternoon which resulted in the consensus of cancelling Sunday’s activities.
Calderon also reminded the residents to be on alert and do the precautionary measures against the possible impact and hazards of heavy rains.
