Two policemen died while two cops were wounded following a firefight with suspected members of a local drug syndicate in a buy-bust operation that went awry in Sultan Kudarat town of Maguindanao on Friday, Nov. 15.
Police Lt. Gen. Bernard Banac, director of the Area Police Command- Western Mindanao, said their monitoring also disclosed that the local drug syndicate also suffered casualties during the gun battle.

The operation was a buy-bust mapped out by operatives of the Drug Enforcement Group of the Philippine National Police (PDEG).
During the operation, a shootout triggered after the cops announced the bust.
Banac said the four wounded cops were immediately taken to the Cotabato Sanitarium Hospital but two of them were declared dead.
The two other policemen are undergoing medical treatment.
Banac assured the respective families of the slain and wounded cops of medical benefits and other financial assistance.
