"I have instructed all police units in our region to prepare for the approaching typhoon. All police units are directed to coordinate with the local government units who will be directly hit by the typhoon and other concerned agencies, particularly the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Councils," said Police Brig. Gen. Paul Kenneth Lucas, PRO 4-A chief.

Lucas appealed to the community to cooperate with authorities in pre-emptive evacuation and preparation efforts to minimize damage from Pepito.

"This is another challenge that requires our prompt action and response to ensure the safety and security of the public. We have already issued warnings to residents, especially those living in low-lying areas, about the potential for flooding through our local police. We are also preparing equipment and mobilizing resources, including 520 mobility and lift capability assets, 3,327 communication equipment, and eight watercraft and rubber boats for possible evacuation, search, and rescue operations," Lucas added.

Lucas said they have activated the Regional Standby Support Force (RSSF) for Pepito with 438 personnel ready for deployment.

One-hundred eighty-eight search and rescue teams or 1,566 personnel will be deployed on the ground, along with 407 from the BJMP, BFP, AFP, and other partner agencies for the typhoon, he said.
