Armed holdaper caught in act in Paco, Manila

A 41-year-old gang member was arrested after patrolling policemen caught him in the act of pointing a weapon to a female victim in Paco, Manila on Friday, November 15.

Manila Police District (MPD) Director General Thomas Arnold Ibay said the suspect was identified as alias "Win", 41, resident of Bacoor, Cavite.

He said the suspect was arrested at around 8:30 p.m. by patrolling officers of the MPD Ermita Station, after he pointed his pen gun to an old lady who was walking along Quirino Extension corner of San Gregorio Street.

Police also seized the suspect's improvised firearm with a .38 caliber ammunition.

The suspect is currently detained at Ermita Police Station and will face charges for violation of Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.

Meanwhile, the victim positively identified the suspect as the man who attacked her and pointed a firearm at her. 

She said she was very grateful for the quick action of the police.
