ILOILO CITY – The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) announced that 62 local government units (LGUs) in Western Visayas region have earned the 2024 Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG).
“We laud the efforts of the LGUs in embodying good governance and raising the bar of excellence in public service,” said the DILG-6 in a statement.
“Let’s keep moving forward for a brighter, stronger Western Visayas!” added the DILG-6 under Regional Director Juan Jovian Ingeniero.
Five of the six provinces were conferred with SGLG – Aklan, Antique, Guimaras, Iloilo, and Negros Occidental. Only Capiz did not earn the SGLG this year.
For the cities category, 12 of the 13 LGUs were in Negros Occidental. These are Bacolod, Bago, Cadiz, Escalante, Himamaylan, La Carlota, Sagay, San Carlos, Silay, Sipalay, Talisay, and Victorias.
The component city of Passi in Iloilo province was also awarded the SGLG.
The remaining SGLG awardees were in the municipal category.
