Authorities arrested two key suspects in a series of car robberies or “basag-kotse” incidents in Cavite.
In a statement, the Cavite Police Provincial Office (PPO) said the joint operation conducted by the Provincial Intelligence Unit and the General Trias Component City Police Station (CCPS) netted the suspects in Quiapo and Tondo, Manila, on Thursday, Nov. 14.
Alias Ogie, believed to be the leader of the “basag-kotse” group, was collared along with his cohort, alias Calvin.
The two suspects were located through intensive backtracking and intelligence gathering by the police.
Investigation revealed that the group led by Alias Ogie was behind car robbery incidents in the cities of General Trias, Dasmariñas, and Imus, as well as other criminal operations in Metro Manila and Regions 3 and 4A.
The arrested suspects are now under the custody of General Trias CCPS.
In a statement, Police Regional Office 4A Director Brig. Gen. Paul Kenneth T. Lucas commended the operating units behind the arrests.
Cavite PPO Director Col. Dwight E. Alegre, meanwhile, reminded the public to avoid leaving valuables inside their vehicles, as it could attract the attention of criminals.
