ILOILO CITY — Iloilo City Councilor Johnny Young has urged fellow councilors to adhere to proper decorum following several recent heated confrontations.

“We have a duty to uphold the highest standards of behavior and decorum during our sessions. This includes refraining from personal attacks, derogatory language, and disruptive behavior that detracts from productive exchanges and decision-making,” Young said after Councilor Rommel Duron once again verbally attacked colleagues, including Young, last week.
Duron called Councilors Ely Estante and Young ignorant during a session when they questioned the need for associations of tricycle drivers to be registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
Duron has also clashed with Councilor Sedfrey Cabaluna. Last July, Duron hurled a homophobic word towards Cabaluna over discussions on the public transportation modernization program.
“I urge all of my colleagues to adhere to the rules of order and conduct ourselves with respect and dignity toward one another,” said Young who noted he was not only referring to Duron but the entire Iloilo City Council.
