A total of 144 children received free medical checkup and essential supplies such as food, medicine, and grocery packs from Pasig City and local cooperatives during the “A Day in the Community” program in celebration of the 32nd National Children’s Month.
The city government said that the Local Council for the Protection of Children hosted the community service program at Ilugin Elementary School in Barangay Pinagbuhatan last November 11.
Aside from check-ups provided by the City Health Department (CHD), the community service program also featured children’s games and activities coordinated with the CHD-Nutrition Office, Cooperative Development Office (CDO), and various cooperatives.
Hygiene kits were also distributed by the city government through the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (DRRMO).
The program aimed to support the community, especially the youth, through activities that address specific needs and promote community involvement.
The city government said that the event was made possible through the efforts of the City Social Welfare and Development Office, together with the Pasig City Council for the Protection of Children, CHD, and CDO.
In relation to the celebration, the local government also prepared other activities that can be found on the official Facebook page of the Pasig City Public Information Office for the whole month of November, such as Children’s Got Talent: spoken poetry, slogan and poster making, and quiz bee, among others.
